How to hire teachers in Asia
In general we have found that teachers who are living in Asia already are some of the most reliable and consistent teachers to hire. The first step is to write a detailed job ad, which is an important part of finding high-quality candidates. Then you can post a job ad here and applicants will start to send you their CVs and cover letters within a few days. After that, select the most motivated applicants to a telephone or skype interview and then ideally hire them. It’s a good idea to be up front about salary & living accommodations so that teachers will know what to expect.
What about teacher recruitment services?
We offer a wide range of services to help you find the best teachers in Asia and get them hired. Our core services are ideal for most schools and recruiters. Another popular service we offers to recruit teachers is by directly sending you CV leads of teachers who are interested to work in Asia. This ensures that you have first access to job seekers and is ideal for school chains or government programs where you may be hiring more than 10 teachers per year.
What happens if I am not happy with my purchase?
We stand behind the quality of our product and value of our service. If for any reason you are not happy with your job ad purchase, we will give you a full refund within 30 days of the job ad expiration. Just email [email protected] and we will give your money back.
How can I pay for a teaching job ad?
We used 2Checkout as our payment processor which is a secure payment processor that will allow you to use most major credit cards to purchase. If you require an invoice or would like to pay by another method, please email us at [email protected]
What information should I include in my teaching job ad?
The essentials are school name, position description, salary, location and type of teaching (English, for kids, Math etc). Beyond that you may have more applicants if you provide more detailed information about your school or program. Many applicants use this information to try and understand the ‘legitimacy’ of the school and how seriously they take academics. Then you should also be open about the types of teachers you are looking for. It is quite different to say ‘English teachers’ as opposed to ‘Professional English teachers who are comfortable teaching high-level grammar, in company to other business professionals’. The more information you provide, the better, from the applicants perspective.
What is the best way to recruit English teachers in Asia?
We have found that your strategy for recruiting teachers should depend on how many you are looking to hire. If you just need 1 teacher then we recommend that you label your job as an urgent hire and that you are ready to start interviewing candidates soon. This will help you get applicants who are ready to work in that Asia. If you are hiring more than 1 teacher then you may want to purchase a ‘featured’ job upgrade, which will give you 18% more CVs and make it easier to fill your positions. If you are hiring more than 5 teachers per year, our recruiting service will allow you to bypass the traditional waiting period and we will hand-pick 10 qualified candidates from our CV database and send them directly to you.
Do most of your candidates in Asia have teaching certificates?
Currently we have 5822 CVs for teachers who are interested in Asia and 35% of them have teaching certificates.
How will I receive teacher CVs – resumes?
After posting a job ad we will create a temporary email address (@apply.teachergig.com) that will protect your privacy but still allow you to receive emails directly from applicants. We will automatically forward any emails sent to your temporary address to the email you provide during checkout.
What is a good salary to offer English teachers in Asia?
Obviously this varies a lot depending on the type of position offered and whether or not any other perks are included, such as flights or housing. You can read in more detail in our blog post about this topic “Teacher Salaries in Asia”
How many teaching positions can I hire for in a single job post?
This is up to you – you can state that you are hiring for one or multiple teaching positions in your job description. However, we recommend that if you need to hire more than 1 teacher you may want to upgrade to a ‘featured’ job post in order to receive more CVs in the same 30-day job post duration.
